NOTICE OF STATUTORY PUBLIC OPEN HOUSE AND STATUTORY PUBLIC MEETING
COMBINED NOTICE OF PUBLIC OPEN HOUSE AND PUBLIC MEETING
Pursuant to Sections 17(16) and 26 of the Planning Act.
The Township of Adelaide Metcalfe is updating its Official Plan to ensure that the land use planning policies are current, reflect Provincial and Township policy, and reflect changing community needs for the next 30-years.
The Official Plan is a land use planning document that includes a vision, goals, and land use policy directions for the Township. The Plan is a comprehensive document which contains goals, policies and land use schedules and sets a 30-year policy framework for land use decisions.
A Consultation Draft Official Plan Amendment and all supporting information are available on the Township’s website www.adelaidemetcalfe.on.ca. This includes proposed changes in the format of a ‘track change’ document.
The Amendment would apply to the entire Township and accordingly no key map is provided.
OPEN HOUSE
When: Wednesday June 24th, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.
Where: The Township of Adelaide Metcalfe Office at 2340 Egremont Drive, Strathroy, ON. Staff will do a short presentation at 6:30 p.m. and will be available for questions following the prior to and following the presentation.
The purpose of the Open House is to provide the public an opportunity to provide feedback, to ask questions and identify planning issues that should be considered as part of the amendment. Any person may attend the public open house and/or make written or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the proposed Official Plan Amendment, or submit ideas and feedback for consideration.
PUBLIC MEETING
When: Monday July 20th at 7:00pm
Where: This is a hybrid meeting open to the public at The Township of Adelaide Metcalfe Office at 2340 Egremont Drive, Strathroy, ON. For instructions on how to attend and participate virtually please call the Township Office.
The purpose of the Public Meeting is to provide the public an opportunity to provide formal submission to Township Council on the proposed amendment. Any person may attend the public meeting and/or make written or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the proposed Official Plan Amendment, or submit ideas and feedback for consideration.
How to Participate in the Public Meeting
1) Speak to Council.
To participate electronically via phone or by video using Zoom registration is required no later than 12:00 p.m (noon) on Friday, July 17th, 2026. Please contact the Clerk / Manager of Legislative Services to register at @email. All persons wishing to participate remotely will be contacted by the Clerk / Manager of Legislative Services and given electronic access instructions.
2) Submit written comments.
If you wish to comment on the application, you are encouraged to provide written comments to the Clerk by email @email or by mail 2340 Egremont Drive, RR 5, Strathroy, Ontario, N7G 3H6 by noon on Wednesday, July 15th, 2026. You must include the file number, your full name, address, and an email or telephone number at which you can be reached. Written submissions must also indicate if you wish to make an oral submission at the meeting or wish to participate remotely.
Official Plan Amendment Appeals
If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of the Council of the Township of Adelaide Metcalfe to the Ontario Land Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Council of the Township of Adelaide Metcalfe before the proposed Official Plan Amendment is adopted, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision.
If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Council of the Township of Adelaide Metcalfe before the proposed Official Plan Amendment is adopted, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party.
Notwithstanding the above, subsection 17(36) of the Planning Act defines the parties that are eligible to appeal the decision to the Ontario Land Tribunal.
If you wish to be notified of the decision of the Township of Adelaide Metcalfe with respect to the proposed Official Plan Amendment, you must submit a written request to the Township at 2340 Egremont Drive, RR 5, Strathroy, Ontario, N7G 3H6 (Township Municipal Office).
If you are aware of any person(s) affected by this application who have not received a copy of this notice, it would be appreciated if you would so advise them.
