NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING
pursuant to Sections 17 and 28 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, as amended
AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE ADELAIDE METCALFE COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT PLAN
A Community Improvement Plan (CIP) is an economic development tool used by municipalities in Ontario to guide strategic investment, development, and revitalization initiatives that support the physical improvement of certain areas in a municipality. This is typically accomplished through a combination of financial grants and municipal leadership initiatives. The Adelaide Metcalfe CIP was adopted in 2022.
To complement the Township’s recent efforts to attract industrial development and investment, as well as to better support the Township’s agricultural and other economic sectors, the Township is undertaking a scoped review of the community improvement plan. This review is focused on providing incentives to support future industrial development, ease the financial burden of creating farm worker housing, and increase the viability of existing grant programs through increased funding maximums. Rather than creating a new CIP, this project seeks to strengthen and expand the existing CIP programming already in place.
To this end, the purpose of the amendments are to:
- introduce two (2) new programs – the Industrial Development Support Program, offering a tax-based incentive for new industrial development, and the Farm Worker Housing Support Program, offering a matching grant equal to a portion of the development charges payable for the creation of new farm worker housing units
- identify a new CIP focus area – the Highway 402 Industrial Area
- increase maximum funding for all other incentive programs from $5,000 to $10,000
- implement minor revisions and technical updates to outdated sections of the CIP.

A PUBLIC MEETING will be held on Monday, August 10th at 7:00 pm to allow the public to make formal written and/or oral submissions on the proposed amendments, prior to Council consideration. The meeting will take place in the Township council chambers at 2340 Egremont Drive and will be livestreamed at https://www.youtube.com/@adelaidemetcalfecouncilmee3890/streams.
