Ontario Government Grant to Improve Lighting at Kerwood Park
Adelaide Metcalfe, ON – On Saturday, March 16, 2024, the Honourable Neil Lumsden, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, joined Mayor Sue Clarke at Kerwood Park to celebrate a $150,000 investment that the Ontario government is making to replace aging lighting infrastructure.
“Our government understands the importance of Kerwood Park to the Township of Adelaide Metcalfe,” said Minister Lumsden. “This vital community hub provides residents of all ages with sport and recreation opportunities that encourage healthy living and social interaction. That’s why I am proud that the Township of Adelaide Metcalfe is receiving this capital funding, enabling it to upgrade the infrastructure that allows this community to thrive.”
This funding, provided to the Township of Adelaide Metcalfe through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Capital grant stream, will allow for new, improved and environmentally friendly lighting to be installed in Kerwood Park. This project will extend the Park’s usable hours, promoting a safer park experience for all residents, encourage active and healthy lifestyles, and contribute to community well-being.
"On behalf of the Township, I would like to thank the Provincial Government and the Ontario Trillium Foundation for funding the new park lighting at our Kerwood Park,” said Mayor Sue Clarke. “The park has been a priority for Council over the last two years as it is a place that promotes a healthy and active lifestyle, community connection, and a relaxing environment for community groups, residents, and visitors. Without this funding, it would have been very difficult for the Township to continue to invest in this community infrastructure."
